Individual Health Insurance If you are seeking individual health insurance coverage, below are a few carriers with whom we write business as well as links to their respective Web sites. All three of these major companies [Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, Assurant Health (formerly Fortis Health), and Unicare] have set up user–friendly systems that allow people to easily generate premium quotes for individuals and/or dependent(s), print benefit summaries, forms and applications, etc. In fact, Assurant Health and Unicare currently offer online application capabilities. Although Blue Cross Blue Shield is working on this feature, it only allows prospects to download and submit the application forms manually. Please review the various products available with each company as well as the costs and benefits in order to determine the appropriate coverage for your specific needs. The customer service representatives from each carrier will be able to assist with any benefit or coverage questions. **Please keep in mind that INDIVIDUAL MEDICAL is completely different than group coverage. Applicants’ medical history will be thoroughly analyzed during the underwriting process and there is always the possibility that coverage will be excluded for specific conditions, premiums could increase, or applications could be declined. Unlike most group policies, coverage for individual plans is never guaranteed. It may take between 4 to 6 weeks for final approval of applications.**
